Group Types
Balint Groups: Designed
to help physicians use the personal relationship with their patients to enhance healing.
Professional Groups: Designed for members of the helping professions:
therapists, clergy or physicians who due to their relationships in the community
find it hard to find a group in which they do not have dual relationships.
Teen Groups: Group psychotherapy is well suited for teens whose major
psychological task is to become separate and independent from their parents in a healthy
way. Working with a group of peers allows for the safe exploration of inner feelings, the
establishment of a confident identity, and constructive independent functioning.
Couple Groups: Often the treatment of choice for committed couples to explore the
impasses in their relationship with other couples who want to grow and develop.
